MAGINNESS - FARMING COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSEMBLY TO SHOW LEADERSHIP

The
SDLP European Candidate Alban Maginness visited the successful
Winter Fair in the Balmoral show grounds yesterday with several
party colleagues. Speaking at the event Alban Maginness said
“Speaking
with members of the dairy industry, one could easily identify
that they share many common concerns. Given the cost of feed,
veterinary bills and current extremely low prices they are receiving
for their milk, it is understandable why they would be concerned.
Many of those who I talked with were also concerned that not enough
is being done to radiate the twin scourges of bovine TB and brucellosis.
They are as one looking for leadership from the assembly and all
of are of the opinion that only a return to Export Refunds will
save many from going out of business. Working with my colleagues
at an Assembly and European level I will ensure that the farming
community here is represented, its voice is heard, and greater
dividends are ensured.”
