MAGINNESS COMMENTS BEFORE 'TOUR OF THE NORTH'

Speaking before this evening’s ‘tour of the north’
march in North Belfast, local SDLP MLA Alban Maginness stated:
“Like
the entire community in North Belfast I hope that this evening’s
parade passes off peacefully and with as little inconvenience
to the local community as possible. Much can be achieved with
a little common sense and good will being shown on both sides.
We only need to look at what has been achieved over the last few
months in the political arena to see what can be done when people
are brave and courageous enough to move forward together on the
basis of trust and mutual respect. We need to move towards a society
where we do not talk about what is good for one community or the
other, but what is in the interests of our entire community. I
hope that this evening’s parade sets an example for the
rest of the marching season across the North.”
