MAGINNESS
CONDEMNS THREATS AGAINST MARK THOMPSON
SDLP Justice Spokesperson Alban Maginness MLA has condemned those
responsible for making threats against the life of Relatives For
Justice Director Mark Thompson and has demanded that they are
withdrawn immediately.
Mr Maginness stated:
“These threats are completely outrageous and they must be
withdrawn immediately. Mark Thompson is a man who has worked tirelessly
for human rights and justice with families of victims of state
violence from across the community for many years and his work
is of the utmost value.
It is clear that the valuable contribution that Relatives For
Justice makes has unsettled and unnerved some of the darker elements
of our society. They need to realise that no one has the right
to make these kind of threats and no one supports those who make
them. It is clear that these threats must be withdrawn immediately
and anyone with any information on them should contact the PSNI
as soon as possible.”
