CONVERY
‘ORDE MEETING USEFUL’
PSNI Chief Constable Sir Hugh Orde today addressed the SDLP Association
of Councillors at their November meeting in the Wellington Park
Hotel, Belfast. The Chief Constable addressed the meeting on a
number of issues, including the future role of MI5 in the North,
the role of the DPP’s, and police performance and the volume
of serious crime.
Speaking
after the meeting Chair of the SDLP Association of Councillors
Pat Convery stated:
“Today’s
meeting gave SDLP Councillors from across the North an opportunity
to hear from and ask questions of the Chief Constable. His presence
is both welcome and worthwhile. The meeting is part of an ongoing
process, as part of the new policing dispensation, of working
with the PSNI on policing progress and problems. The meeting was
both informative and challenging for both the SDLP and the Chief
Constable.”
